The history of attempts to bring «Metro 2033» to the screen goes back more than a decade. In 2012, MGM acquired the screen rights to Dmitry Glukhovsky’s novel, with plans for a feature-film adaptation. The project was later stopped, and the rights were publicly reported to have reverted to Glukhovsky in 2018. MGM was subsequently acquired by Amazon in 2022 and is now part of Amazon MGM Studios.
